Il nuovo ingresso della Volta del Vescovo!!!!

“Volta del Vescovo” is an eighteenth century villa with a huge, age-old park and the Emilian courtyard in front of it. Because of its structure and unusual location, just a short distance from the old town centre and yet surrounded by green countryside, “La Volta” is certainly a unique site in the Piacenza area.

The name "Volta del Vescovo" (the “Bishop’s vault”) reminds us that the estate originally belonged to the Church. In the nineteenth century, it was purchased by Count Giovanni Arcelli Fontana who settled here, leaving the castle of Monteventano in Valtidone, which had been the original family home in the Middle Ages.
From then on, “Volta" became the summer residence of the Counts Arcelli Fontana, who still own the property today. The Volta del Vescovo has witnessed the evolution of farming through the centuries. It saw the cultivation and processing of tobacco in the period between the two world wars (the old tobacco-making equipment is still there), the cultivation and grinding of wheat (in the old mill next door) and of other agricultural products typical of the Piacenza area.

”Volta del Vescovo” is at the disposal of our guests as a prestigious venue for organising receptions, conferences, gala evenings, office dinners, fashion shows, themed gastronomic evenings, concerts and other events.
